Buying guides and how-tos
Our guides explain how to make careful decisions before you buy: how to read a label, how to check a claim, and when a product is not the answer. They use UK guidance from the NHS, NICE, the MHRA and GOV.UK, plus published research, and they link to the reviews where we apply the same checks.
How to use these guides
- Before you buy: work through the checklist with the product page open in another tab, and note anything the seller does not tell you.
- When comparing products: compare like with like, such as the dose per day, the cost per day and the refund terms.
- When in doubt: a pharmacist can check a supplement against your medicines free of charge, and a GP should assess any new, severe or persistent symptom.
Guides are general information, not medical, financial or legal advice. We update them when guidance changes and show the date of the last update.
