Skincare marketing is full of words like lift, firm and youthful. Our skincare reviews start with the ingredient list, then look at what independent research says about those ingredients and whether the product tells you their strength. We separate cosmetic effects (how skin looks and feels) from medical claims, which cosmetics cannot make.
How we assess skincare
- Full ingredient list and concentrations: without strengths, products are hard to compare.
- Evidence for key ingredients: peptides, vitamin C, retinoids, niacinamide and hyaluronic acid all have different levels of evidence.
- Suitability: sensitive skin, patch testing and when to see a GP or dermatologist.
- Price and terms: bundles, delivery to the UK and refund conditions.
Daily broad-spectrum sun protection remains the best-supported everyday step against sun-related skin ageing.
