Plan libraries and project e-books are popular with DIYers, and their sales pages often promise more than any download can deliver. Our DIY and home reviews check what you can verify before you pay: what is actually included, the real price and any add-ons, the refund window, whether the measurements suit UK materials, and which UK rules (planning, building work, poultry, electrics) a plan will not cover for you.
How we assess DIY plans and guides
- Price and terms: one-time or recurring, refund window, checkout add-ons.
- UK fit: metric or imperial, UK timber sizes, UK seasons.
- Rules and safety: Planning Portal limits, HSE woodworking guidance and other official sources.
- Claims: we separate the seller’s claims from what can be checked, and we never claim to have tested a product we have not used.
